Time sampling for those that can't remember to stop/start a timer
Sculley, Jennifer
While I love the philosophy of intentionality behind Sunsama's timer features, I cannot remember to start or stop a timer with any regularity for the life of me. Unfortunately that makes the time data pretty useless for me, which is sad because it would be really valuable.
After doing a deep dive on the time trackers out there, I landed on Daily Time Tracking: https://dailytimetracking.com/
Basically, it automatically starts when I open my computer, and I have set it to prompt me every 15 minutes to choose what I'm doing. This helps me in 2 ways:
- I don't have to remember to start or stop a timer to get data about how I'm spending my time in reality (which often veers away from my plan).
- While it is a slight interruption, it is a good interruption because it helps me be mindful about what I'm doing and whether it's what I should be doing.
While I like the minimalism and approach Daily uses, I would like it even more if it tied into my plan for the day and made it easier to compare my plan vs reality.
If there are other users who are incapable of remembering to use timers it might be a feature or integration worth considering.
