I don't know if anyone has noticed. WhatsApp is another loose thread with looming tasks that need to be integrated into daily life.
I feel it will be a strong integration filling up a wide gap.

it would be super useful to have Whatsapp - often I get clients contacting me there with messages that turn into tasks

Isn't this semi-already a thing? You can now share from WhatsApp --> Sunsama via phone, right? Only thing is that it goes into Backlog.
