I use Things 3 and having Sunsama integrate with it would be TREMENDOUSLY beneficial.

While I find Sunsama an excellent tool, it lacks meaning for me without this particular feature or at least API, which would allow me to do it by myself.

They may not have a cloud API but they have robust programatic interfaces. If this is not a priority for Sunsama, sure, but the technical barriers to better integration are not on the Things side.

It's absolutely possible—today—to support importing tasks from Things 3 into Sunsama:

they released a really powerful url scheme in ~2019 https://culturedcode.com/things/support/articles/2803573/
they have a ton of Shortcuts for Mac https://culturedcode.com/things/blog/2023/01/shortcuts-reloaded/
they have Applescript hooks https://culturedcode.com/things/support/articles/2803572/

And if you don't want to deal with adding Mac-specific code to the desktop apps:

they support dragging tasks from Things into other apps. For instance, you can drag tasks from Things into Apple's Calendar. I tried this with Sunsama but it seems like Sunsama ignores the dropped tasks.
they support using the Share sheet to share tasks from Things into other apps. On Mac there is no way to share to Sunsama. On mobile, Sunsama accepts it but calls the task "Shared Link"

These last two methods provide essentially no metadata, but even just getting the task _name_ quickly would be a game changer. Please don't let perfect be the enemy of the good 🙏

Another quick win would be recognizing things:// urls as links:

For linking back to Things, Things allows you to easily get the url of an individual task. You can paste that into Sunsama, but Sunsama doesn't make it into a clickable link—you have to manually create the link or use a separate launcher app.

I totally realise this is harder than it appears to be because of Things' lack of an API, but in the meantime, if drag-and-drop from Things to Sunsama could be supported at least, that would be a start.
